As we look ahead, comprehensive portfolio analytics and credit quality transparency will be central to our risk management strategy for profitability optimization through the cycle and for enabling sustainable growth rates for Canadian personal banking portfolio overall.
The Senior Director, Consumer Portfolio Management and Analytics, plays a pivotal role in providing insight and transparency into the credit quality of the Canadian retail credit portfolio including personal lending, auto, home equity and credit card portfolios. The incumbent will lead portfolio management reporting, analytics, and strategic initiatives while serving as a thought leader on data and insights to support portfolio management across retail products.
The role reports to the VP, Retail Modeling and Portfolio Monitoring.
What will you do?
- Leverage and personally demonstrate RBC's Leadership Model to engage, empower and develop a team of subject matter experts that can deliver against key imperatives
- Create a safe environment that allows people to speak up, offers opportunities to fail and learn, focus on what matters, and draws out diverse perspectives and thinking
- Lead the Portfolio Management Committee - the key risk oversight senior executive group including EVP's, SVP's and VP's in GRM and Canadian Banking
- Provide timely and highly accurate portfolio management reporting, dashboards and analysis to various stakeholder groups including PMC, Finance, CRO, OSFI, auditors, and Investor Relations
- Own the Downturn/Upturn playbook and governance process to ensure optimal and coordinated timing for credit decisions dependent on credit cycle positioning
- Develop early warning systems and reporting providing a holistic view on consumer financial stress leveraging macro scenarios and bottom-up client data
- Lead Group Executive and Board level presentations on Consumer Debt and Home Equity Lending performance
- Drive cross-functional teams through analytics processes to make sound information-based decisions and develop robust risk management measures
- Champion automation of reports and dashboards while researching innovative tools to enhance information storage, display and dissemination
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- University degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g., statistics, engineering, economics, mathematical finance)
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian consumer credit products, policies and procedures
- Minimum 5 years credit portfolio management experience combined with credit scoring or risk modeling background
- Strong leadership and relationship management competencies with proven ability to lead cross-functional project teams
- Ability to influence and partner across boundaries, external companies and hierarchies
- Strategic thinking ability while integrating information from multiple sources
- Ability to conceptualize market condition changes and leverage innovative thinking to capitalize on strategic opportunities
- Customer insight required to drive operational excellence and high performance
- Passion for reporting, dashboards and analysis with ability to provide valuable stakeholder insights
- Creative problem-solving abilities with independence
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong organizational awareness and sound decision-making ability
- Experience with regulatory reporting and interactions with OSFI and other governmental parties
Nice to Have
- Experience with IFRS9 provisioning and PCL forecasting
- Knowledge of retail credit transformation systems and advanced analytics tools
