The IT Intern will provide technical, administrative, and development support to the IT & Innovations Department.
The intern will assist in managing and maintaining organisational IT systems, supporting digital communication tools, web platforms, and network infrastructure, while gaining hands-on experience in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in public health communication and digital advocacy.
The ideal candidate must be competent in effective time management, excellent independent writing and communication skills and working with limited supervision to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
Technical Support & Systems Maintenance :
Provide first-level IT support to staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Assist with system updates, installations, and routine maintenance of computers, printers, and other peripherals.
Support monitoring and maintenance of the organisation’s internet connectivity, Cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure platforms.
Assist in maintaining data backup systems and security protocols.
Web & Digital Platforms :
Support the management and updating of the organisation’s websites and digital platforms.
Assist in testing, content uploads, and performance monitoring for Nigeria Health Watch’s online platforms.
Provide support during virtual and hybrid events, ensuring seamless technical delivery and user experience.
Innovation, Research & Development :
Conduct research on emerging technologies relevant to health communication, advocacy, and organisational efficiency.
Assist in the documentation, testing, and implementation of digital innovation projects, including automation and AI-driven tools.
Support the exploration and integration of new software solutions that can improve internal workflows and project delivery.
Assist in maintaining IT asset inventories and user accounts.
Provide basic data analysis and reporting support where required.
Support the documentation of IT procedures, configurations, and user guides.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Very good understanding of IT systems, hardware, networking, and web technologies.
Proficiency in using Cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services.
Familiarity with web content management systems, programming and scripting skills are an advantage.
Familiarity with Large Language Models, data analytics, or social listening tools is an added advantage.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities within tight timelines, as well as proactively communicate with teammates and stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
